IP camera to view the night sky

I am wondering if it is possible to get an IP camera to view meteors and satellites in the night sky. I have an extra Dahua ip cam that I might put outside to see if I can see stars with it but want to make sure I'm not wasting my time.
 
Are you hooking this up to a telescope with an adapter? Is the goal remote viewing?

Doesn't sound like it will work too well unless your camera's night vision is razor sharp.
 
I don't plan to hook to a telescope,just put it into the sky and see what happens. The main goal is remote viewing. I'll hook it up tonight to see how well it works.
 
If you can control the exposure that would be best.

If you can take a stream of high res images over 30-60 seconds and then layer them and average the image stack you may get something nice.
