Intstalling Cat drivers issue

Ok, I have just recently put my computer back together. It has the same parts as before (see list of specs below). However, I have noticed that the ATI cat drivers that were installed previously do not work. Also, when I try to install new drivers, it gives me crap about how I need to try using standard vga drivers rather than the ATI cat drivers when I try to install any cat drivers. I do know that the system does not recognize my Asus 9800 Pro 256mb card and it may be as simple as reinserting the card into the AGP slot. I would prefer not to have to wipe my HDD to clear up this problem. It could also be a mobo problem as I checked in device manager and it says that the AGP controller is having issues. Any thoughts?

1gb generic DDR400
Asus 9800 Pro 256mb
Hercules Fortissimo III 7.1
MSI DVD burner
floppy drive
WD 40Gb 7200RPM HDD
 
I reinstalled the card and nothing changed. I also reinstalled the mobo AGP drivers and found that when the computer trys to run them, they do not start.

EDIT: Screw it. Since no one seems to know or cares to help, I'll just format the drive. I was hoping that I was not gonna have to do that, but I seem to have no choice and am in a hurry.
 
Oh BTW folks, I fixed the problem. Earlier I had thought that it was a vid card issue, but it was really an OS issue. The Via AGP driver could not start since several .inf files were not in the systemroot/inf folder. I used an undelete utility to recover the .inf files, placed them in the proper directories, installed the ATI drivers, and everything works fine now.
