Intranet Phone Directory

I'm looking to implement an internal company phone directory (it's currently maintained as an Excel spreadsheet and is pretty poor!).

Are there any solutions available? Looking to run it on Linux if possible, would be nice to assign certain users so that they have permission to modify phone numbers etc.

Any thoughts welcome!

What is the technical comfort level of the person that will be maintaining the internal list? Does your company have an Intranet site already (e.g. a CMS product)?

Hi

The IT department will be primarily maintaing the list but we'd like to allow supervisors/managers the ability to modify entries for their departments. They all have a reasonable technical level of IT awareness.

We currently have nothing in place in terms of Intranet.

Partner with the IT department and choose a CMS system that meets your technical and role/permission needs. Ideally pick one that allows you to add style/skin packs.

Once it is up and running, make a phone list page and assign some users rights to modify the page content. Ideally, IT should only be responsible for ensuring the uptime and network access of the CMS; let the business managers maintain the content in the page.
