internet stops working every 2 hours

i dont know which forum to put this but mods move it if you need too.
when i use my pc for 2 hours and then the internet just stops working.
i have to restart my pc
i restarted my cable modem and still no luck... notthing in aol browser, firefox, IE, opera. only aim and msn messneger work
whats up with this?
i logeed into guest and still same problem. :confused:
 
Is it always 2 hours, almost exactly?

Are you running through a Router, because that's the only thing I can think of. The Router is either losing info after awhile [aka dying on you] or theres some wierd settings in there.

I could be wrong, but the router seems to me, to be the problem. Unless the internet still works on other computers, if you have a router.

At any rate, that's a strange one :|
 
On your LAN Conection Properties, there is an "Authentication" tab. Go there and make sure that the box that says something like "Enable authentication for IEEE 802.1x" is not checked. I know that especially on wireless networks, that if this option is enabled it can cause network disconnects on a regular basis.
 
Its your (wife, girlfriend, mother, father, siblings, insert person here) telling you that you have been on the computer long enough. :D
 
routers can have bulit in timers, so can aol... ask your self if you are whipped.. now think of that person and ask them if they put a limit on your aol account
 
sounds like a classic case of gettin owned haha but seriously yeah if you do have a router then have builtin idle timeouts but let us know...
 
i do not have a router, the cable is directy connect from modem to ethernet card.
