Internet Security for New Apartment

My new apartment complex provides free T-1 internet access. Currently I have Trend Micro's Internet Security 2004 along with a linksys router for my dsl. Unfortunately, I will have to leave the router with my parents. For more protection would it be wise to buy another router with a built in firewall? How vulnerable are community used T-1 lines?

Depends on exactly what hardware is involved with the T1, but the smart assumption is always that it's not secure.

Anyway, while a software firewall is probably enough, I would say go ahead and grab another router.
