What parts do I need for a computer to have a wireless internet connection?
Do I need to buy things like modem or PC Cards / PCMCIA even if there's a Onboard LAN on my motherboard?

You'll need a wireless router, and then either a usb wireless device that plugs into your usb port, or a wireless pci card.

And you'll need to research how to make it secure. Use WPA and not WEP. Make sure the router you buy has WPA.
