Internet explorer problem - blank windows

I have this problem with the IE. When I try to "open a link in new window", a window opens but it's blank. It doesnt say any error or anything it just opens a window that has nothing in it. But if I click a link it opens it just fine as long as it's in the same window. Pop up windows open just fine nevertheless. I have win Xp service pack 2. I had this problem before i installed SP2. Right now I dont know what to do. I use Firefox mostly but there are some website that dont work with Firrefox. I am not using a pop-up blocker.

tried that, doesnt work. I also ran Adaware on my comp to get rid of spyware. I have had this problem for a while.
