I have standard internet package from Time Warner cable.

Lately I have been experiencing these symptoms:

1) Frequent but usually short periods of complete loss of connection.
2) Frequent but short periods of abysmal speed and/or webpages loading incompletely.

I have tried resetting the modem during these periods to no avail. I have tried removing the WAN from my wireless router and connecting directly to the computer, but to no avail.

I'm not an IT expert, but I'm confident my computer isn't the problem as I experience the same issues on my laptop during these periods.

Obviously I will be calling Time Warner, but does anyone have any guess as to what the problem may be, or is there something I may be overlooking?

Many thanks.

Chances are it's TWC themselves having issues. It happens. Despite broadband ISP's coming a long way since the late 90's/2000's, there will be times this happens. Based on your testing it seems you've pretty much narrowed it down to an ISP issue.

This site:

https://downdetector.com/

Has saved many hairs from being ripped out of my head having to do an in-depth check and calling Comcast. If there's a bigger issue going on 9/10 it'll already be reported or will be the length of the time the issue is going on.

Sounds like a time warner issue, most likely nothing you can do without their input.
