For some reason during the mid-day, my internet will mysteriously go out. When i unplug the power to the modem and plug it back in about 20 seconds later, my internet will come back. This is ok, however the problem is that i have to do this 10-12 times a day. A royal pain in the ass.

I have cable from...you guessed it, Comcast.

probably, i have the same problem but not as sevear(sp) and i have COX.

sorry i dont really have a answer, the cox kids allways just tell me they cant trouble shoot due to my using a roughter.

The first thing I would try is unplug the modem for a longer period of time. Give it like 15-30 minutes or something and then plug it back in and see what happens.

Next would be related to signal strength. Have you spliced the cable line coming into your modem? This can occasionally cause issues. If so try it without the splitter in line and see if this clears up the problem.

Beyond that your going to have to up your firewall, and plug directly into the cable modem and then call into comcast support I think. Get them to open up a service ticket. I'd say there is either something wrong with your modem, the cable line or their equipment on the other side.
