Ok here's the deal. I did a fresh install of windows and once I got everything set up I noticed that as I used internet explorer it started loading web pages slower and slower and slower until it did not load anything at all. If i kept hitting enter in the address line it would eventually start to load something. While this happens I am still able to connect to Instant messenger and I can connect to servers to play games. I have switched from my NIC to the onboard lan that came with my motherboard and the problem still exsists. Has any one had experience with this?

installed antivirus? up to date? windows updates? etc?

try another browser to see if its an isolated IE problem or if its the whole system.

How are you connected to the internet? Through a router? Directly to a modem?

I am connected through my school

I just installed firefox because it kicks the shit out of IE and I have been online for the past 2 hours working and so far I haven't even had a stutter. I switched back to IE And ie seems to be working pretty well too. What the hell? I spent a rediculous amount of time trying to fix the problem since yesterday and it just up and leaves? It started the fight and it tapped out early

Like the last guy said, the school may have been having problems. Also, it's possible that you had some obscure setting in the OS screwed and firefox reset it.

yeah well if that is the case it just reset itself. Problem is back and I dont know if it is an issue with the school because i dont know of anyone else who is having this issue. I dont see how it could be me though seeing that it happened on 2 different NICs and 2 different windows installations.

It's prolly the school. I'm connected through my school as well, and the internet is really slow sometimes. Most of the problem is the cables going around campus are from like 1991 or something, and the IT department is a bunch of ninnies.

When my outside internet seems to lag, I like to check network websites and see how fast they load. If they're instant, then I know there's something wrong with the network's outside connection.

I hate being dependent! I want my RoadRunner at home back :(

so does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I dont think it is an issue with my nic since i have tried 2, the same thing happens, and any connection i have made prior to the slow down/stop is uneffected. Also I dont know anyone else on the network that this is happening too so that might rule that issue out.

Could it just be that I am cursed?
