I picked up one of the Dell FS12 2u, 12slot servers for a song and a dance. The server is a rebranded Gigabyte with 3x SFF8484 connectors on the backplane and only 2 PCI-E slots, currently occupied by a pair of PERC6/I controllers. 2x sff8484 to the top controller and 1 to the bottom controller. I'd prefer to have 1 of those slots back for a 10Gbe card, So... Who knows of an internal expander that's not PCI-E powered that's not $500? I've got an H700 that's compatible with expanders to use, any ideas? It's either this or a 12/16 port card.

The Intel or Chenbro SAS Expanders can both be powered by Molex as opposed to PCI-E.
I own the Chenbro SAS Expander.
it only has the PCI-E slot just so it is stable in the case. It uses the Molex connector for power.I own the Chenbro SAS Expander.
