I have a Dell 9100 system (bought when they were packaged with the 24 LCD for "free") and am contemplating adding a third hard drive in a 5.25 enclosure since both of the allocated HD slots at the bottom of the chassis are currently occupied. The enclosure I am looking at can be viewed by following this link http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=AA33860.
My question is, since I'm purchasing a Sata-II HD with NCQ capabilities, will the enclosure in any way affect or disable these capabilities and/or speed? Looking at the pictures, I see some sort of bridge (not sure if that's the right term) connecting the actual HDD physical interface within the enclosure, which connects to the bridge leading outside of the enclosure, which then connects to the mobo.
I'm not sure as to how that will effect the actual HDD's built in features, so any advice or help would be appreciated.
BTW, I understand there is some controversy regarding the real-world benefits of SATA-II but I'd like to have it just for the sake of having it cause I'm a fool with my money.
