Internal hard drives seen as external?

I'm using windows 7 64 bit and have my hard drives set on AHCI, but all my internal drives have the, "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" icon in the taskbar. How do I eliminate this?

Before the format I had my drives set on IDE and didn't have this problem....
 
This is caused by the hotswap functionality that is native to AHCI. Typically, the drivers will mark your installed root partition (C:) as non-swappable. The integrated drivers with 7 do not do this. The solution is to upgrade to the latest storage drivers available on the manufacturer website for the motherboard.
