Other than the m-Cubed miniNG, m-Cubed BigNG and the Corsair Cooling Link, are there any other internal devices for controlling a fan via USB?

Uhh.. the Aquero is pretty much the gold standard here .... surprised no one mentioned it yet

Yes well, it's painful to talk about. I got my Aqauero 6 in today and had to use a pocket knife to get the faceplate off since the clever Germans want more money for a black faceplate and ship the unit in silver. It's the best but it's priced like a Mercedes.

All of these units being discussed for the most part are drive bay installs, though. I'm guessing the OP wanted something that was really small and could be velcro'd somewhere out of site behind the motherboard tray. The Aquaero 5 LT would work fine for this and is a pretty reasonable $70 or so, but just be careful, they like to go poof if you feed them too many devices.

The Aquero has a version without the display? I'm looking for something without any sort of externally facing parts what-so-ever.

Yeah the Aquero 5 LT: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/1...m_Controller_53095.html?tl=g30c229s2257#blank

When it comes time to buy it will be down to either the Aquero or EK. Both can be hidden in the back side of my case. Both also have great looking software options. Aquasuite 2014 is already out and looks nice. http://aquacomputer.de/software.html

Yup, the LT Variant is displayless, can be added ..... Now if only they woudl release a LT for the "6" I would be happy, im holding out hope ... probably end up with a 6 anyhow and just not use the display for my new build...

On the Aquaero 5 LT, what is the maximum amps per channel (or wattage per channel) for a 12v fan?

Any fan channel can deliver a current of 1,65A and the maximum combined
current of all channels is 5A. Depending on the used heatsink the maximum power
dissipation is dynamic limited.
A integrated realtime electronic fuse can be set for any channel in 100mA steps.

The unit can actually be watercooled to expand power handling. They get hot :(

If you don't mind spending the money, buy the 6 and take the screen off, and run it as an LT model. Pricey, but totally worth it.

For what it is worth, does anyone know if these sort of devices (especially something like the Aquaero 6 XT!) work well while being platform agnostic? That is to say, being able to interact with these devices without some often proprietary, windows only software? As someone who prefers Linux, its frustrating to find when some potentially nifty piece of kit is near useless without Windows-exclusive software.

I've been thinking about looking for a higher-end MFD bay device for fan control, temperature monitoring, perhaps even lighting.. etc... with enough viable options for brand-agnostic liquid and air cooling monitoring, but finding something that isn't either heavily predicated on a windows-only utility, or specific to certain brands of cooling hardware, has been difficult.

Looks like there may be some support for Linux.
