Internal External USB Port

I am wiring an external USB port to be an internal USB port. I stripped it down to the board and unsoldered the cable jack to run a more space conservative direct wiring design. I wired it up like like the JACK layout is pictured on this website:

Its a series B jack on the hub board, so I solder in the corresponding wires (of correct color) to the spots on the board. I thought I did everything right but I am pretty sure I fried the first USB device I plugged in.

Then after checking again online I found this site :

If I read it right (looking at the diagram for the Type B - CABLE layout) there is a conflict of information.

Does anyone know which is correct? I dont want to fry anything else.

Data looks the same to me on both pages. Though, orientation is unclear in the usbman link.

1 Red 5 Volt
2 White Data -
3 Green Data +
4 Black Ground

I must be missing something. Confirm with the USB spec if you want to make sure its accurate.
 
From what I can tell, usbman.com has a diagram of the cable layout, which I would think means the male end (which I see more frequently than the female end, on USB cables, but I could be wrong).

Compare that to the diagram of the end of the plug on the other website. 1-4 wiring around the plug counterclockwise at usbman.com and clockwise for the other site.

Also, the device that I plugged into the port (as a test) turns out not to be fried, but it did not work immediately after the test, I am not sure why.

I would really like to clear up the confusion before actually losing a device through another test.
