on the internal dns server... its ip is 192.168.100.8

should the primary dns server (the tcp/ip NIC setting) be 127.0.0.1 or 192.168.100.8 (itself?)

which one should the dns server point to for itself?

all other servers use 192.168.100.8 as their primary dns server.

127.0.0.1 is home. It points to itself. So, in your circumstance, 127.0.0.1 IS 192.168.100.8.

DNS server should point to itself for DNS resolution.

ok so which one should i use? please respond asap if you can i havn't sent any mail today for our server. thanks so much!

Generally speaking, trying doesn't result in irrevocable data loss, unless you're trying delete queries / switches to rm in *nix.
