I just set up a basic HTPC, the mobo has onboard audio, I'm using HK soundsticks II speakers, pacific digital dvd-rw.

Every time I play a dvd I can hear buzzing noises through the speakers, that seem to come and go as the drive speeds up and slows down. I also get a bit of it while connecting to my dial-up connection. Everything else sounds great (songs through winamp, etc).

Any ideas what might becausing this?

I assume this is Windows-based... so have you tried going into the windows volume controls, and muted everything except 'Wave' and 'Master'? That normally does the trick for me.

Do you have a analog cable running from the drive to the header on the motherboard?
