Interfacing with LVDS - How?!?!

Scouring the internet, I see some expensive digital signal processors to do the feat.

However, when you take apart a desktop LCD, doesn't it use LVDS internally to a controller board?

Does anyone know how to interface with LVDS or can anyone provide pictures of their panel's internal connector (male/female) or perhaps give some advice?
