Interesting Raid 0 results with simple setup

Alrighty, so a while ago i posted my HDTune results of my 3x 500GB Seagate ST3500630AS drives in raid 0, and it had the OS on it. Due note that I'm running these on an Intel ICH10R controller.

So after a few blue screens and fun times with different OSes I have a fresh install of Vista x86 only this time the raid 0 is strictly for holding my game installs. I did another HDTune run for the heck of it.

So the results make sense as far as differences between an OS install and a non OS install. The first one shows spiking which I imagine is the volume being accessed; while the non OS setup is relatively flat.

What is interesting is the differences in average, max thoroughput and burst rate. I'm not sure how to explain this. Yes, I do realize the ICH10R is not a hardware controller, which may be the simple explaination necessary *shrug*.
 
Vista has extra caching built in, you can disable it (uncheck advanced performance for the drive properties in device manager) and see the difference.
