Interesting OC "problem"

I've been reading the forums for quite some time now and it really influenced me into getting a SFF computer as my first DIY project. Anyways, I'm trying to overclock a little just for a little boost and was having some troubles.

The MB I settled on was the Foxconn G965MA as it was the only one I could find that supported the memory voltages I needed (probably would have worked on others, but didn't want to take the chance). When I played around with FSB in the Bios, it seemed to work ok as long as I upped the PCI clock accordingly (except that my old CRT monitor was having issues some of the time; still haven't figured out if it's the monitor or the adaptor). It topped out somewhere around 285 or so; don't remember. Anyways, I tried OCing in windows with FoxOne and got it up to 300FSB (haven't tried higher yet, I'm running Orthos to see how stable). The wierd thing is, the PCI-e is still at 100. The memory scaled correctly, but the PCI-e stayed at 100. I'm pretty sure it's actually increasing the clock speed since the temp goes up as I increase it.

I found this out last night when I was playing around with it and shut it down for the night. When I rebooted this morning, it went back to default, so I don't know if the clock was only within Windows and it lost it when I powered down (though I restarted once without it losing it) or if it failed to POST this morning at that speed.

Has anyone else with this board seen something like this? It confused me after all I've read with other people overclocking C2D matx boards.
 
Never mind about above. I turned it back down. It went stable for almost 12 hrs on Orthos, so I think it was ok, but I tried to restart to see if it would come back and no luck. I'll have to play around with it some more when I have time, but I don't have any at the moment.

I wonder if that's something with the Fox One program; that it only changes frequencies/voltages/etc. inside Windows, but doesn't change the boot-up settings. Oh well, maybe I'll figure it out eventually.
 
I could have sworn it was in the manual, but I can't find it now. I found it somewhere before I bought it and if memory serves, it went up to 2.2 or 2.3V. All the other ones I saw only went to 1.9 or so. I'll have to look when I get home.

Review

That lists the range as 1.8V to 2.15V. I was thinking it went a little higher, but my memory only needed 2.0 or 2.1, so this worked out fine.
 
thats good to know I might give that board a shot if the abit boards don't come through. It sucks having PC8000 running at PC6400 speed because I do not have enough memory voltage.
 
Personally, if I were buying now, instead of last Nov., I would probably wait on the Abit (assuming all the hype is worth it). But, I was wanting to get this computer built finally and this was the best I could find at the time. Don't get me wrong. I definitely like the computer as a whole, but I wouldn't mind having the capabilities to OC it a little more than what this allows.
