Interesting issue....

So randomly, my computer freezes and the screens are all distorted.

I'm thinking it is a driver issue? It's happened on my 4870x2 and my old 4850 CFed. It never happened before, it just started up randomly. I'll probably re-install if I can't find a solution but it's just a bitch re-installing steam games

What do u mean by "it never happened before" and "happened on my 4870x2 and my old 4850 CF." Do you mean that it normally doesn't ever happen and then all of the sudden it starts happening frequently out of the blue??

Also, right click on steam games and go to backup, and put them on a separate partition or drive, shit even a dvd. It's faster than downloading them

Well it seems to have just started up randomly. My machine was perfectly fine a few months ago and now it happens. Complete lockup with the screen completely distorted.

is it particular to any game or app? i've never had an issue like that be caused by software/driver. Sounds more like a hardware issue like overheating or something.

Overheating it wouldn't be. Card is around 55 C idle 85 load.

I wish it was a particular game or app, its random. I did a clean install of CCC 9.2 and thought it fixed it but it happened yesterday as I quit Crysis Warhead.

Gonna boot into Win7 for a few hours and see if it happens there. If it doesn't for an extended period of time I'm guessing its Vista being borked and doing a full re-install...though I might anyway since I'm a whore like that
