So I just got an Intel Q9550. Upgraded from a e8400, compared to that this thing flippin' FLIES. But for some reason whenever I enter the bios, the thing blue screens and I have to clear cmos again for it to boot into windows. I have an Asus Maximus II Formula. If anyone knows about this little issue. Please let me know, cause I want to get an OC on this thing stat.

bios update? it's possible you're setting something that is making your pc unstable

I flashed to the latest BIOS and everything it seems that no matter what version of BIOS I use it does it. All it takes is for me to enter the BIOS and it does it, I dont have to change any settings what so ever. It is one of the strangest issues I have ever had to deal with.

UPDATE:

Ok so I found out that there is an issue with my RAM but for some strange reason the RAM is fine when it runs with the E8400 but when it runs with the q9550 one of the sticks only works when I clear CMOS. So if anyone has any ideas as to why this might be, it would be much appreciated.

Could be a memory incompatibility, or faulty RAM. Run memtest and see if it turns up any errors on the problematic stick. If it does, RMA the RAM. If not, you might just have to buy a new set (or live with just one stick).

Ok so I really have no idea what happened/is happening but with the e8400 in nothing is wrong with the ram but with the q9550 there is a problem with one stick. Thinking its the memory controller I went ahead and ordered new ram, this time G.Skill seeing as this is like the 4th time in the past six months that I have had something go wrong with Corsair RAM.

Yeah, but the memory controller is off chip, so you should be having problems in the E8400 as well, but you're not, I think you should consider RMA'ing your CPU chip to be on the safe side.

Gskills work well, despite the ENGRISH marketing and such. I still have doubts that it's the memory.

You may need a bios update. Also, read up on GTL ref voltages and settings. If you're OC'ing, I ran my E8400 at GTL ref x67 to x63, but my X3350 (Q9450) was most stable x63 to x61. If you've got a weaker mobo, you might have to adjust this kind of stuff to run stock, but I find it highly unlikely.

Bios or CPU is not right IMO.

Ok well I will see if its the CPU if it is then I will be calling up newegg to setup an RMA. Hopefully its not. Jeez this kind of thing always happens to me. FML.
