The release of the Dell SX2210T got me thinking (and saving). I am a whiteboard kind of guy and I thought of how interesting it would be to trash my dirty whiteboards for something more techie.
What I plan to build is a multitouch whiteboard, and mount it to a wall. I just need some tips on how I should implement this without breaking my bank or my back.
Here is my current list of ingredients -
Hardware:
4x Dell SX2210T (Engadget says $469, but the product is unreachable) (Might be overkill)
Generic Mid Range Mobo/CPU
GPU = Big Question Mark. The unit may be on 24/7 and I don't want a power leech? Suggestions? [Again, has to support 4 Monitors]
I plan to disassemble the monitors (since they don't appear to have the ability to be wall mounted, and I would have to remove the frames anyways) but I am concerned that the weight of it all would tear down my wall.
Software:
I want to avoid writing my own software, but if I don't like it I may have to. While its main function would be white board, I would also want "digital hub" like properties, for instance weather, RSS feeds, maybe some streamed news. What I don't want is to switch around programs.
I have alot of time to think about this, because I probably won't try to do it until Spring Break / Summer but anyone have any suggestions?
