Intel has pushed Westmere to 3.46 GHz with the Intel Core i7-990X. This is just peanuts compared to their highest factory clocked processor ever, Intel Xeon X5698. Intel's new server chip operates at 4.4 GHz out of the box. Apparently its being sold behind close doors to OEMs. Scaly fuckers wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of them

I've always enjoyed pushing my clocks beyond the the default, I bet one of those would be an overclockers disappointment. But who knows how far they go when cherry pickin'.

I wouldnt mind building a 2x Xeon 8 -10 Core setup for a gaming/encoder/vm super computer.

That CPU is the highest-stock-clocked CPU ever manufactured by Intel. Unfortunately, the enthusiasm is diminished because that CPU has only one core enabled.

2 cores 4T ->Tripple channel ram->12 MB L3 cache on 1366 @4.4Ghz
That's factory

if the 4.4ghz doest real you in that 12meg of cache will thats some serious power right there for sure. a awsome gaming chip im sure and I bet we see some 8-9ghz ln2 clocks from
