what processor is this? and does it work on a 1366/i7 motherboard?

Yes, running one right now. I have it at 4.1GHz on stock voltage, and i'm sure it can go higher.

Looks like the only difference is that the xeon can run ECC memory that servers use.

1. thanks all.
2. does it work on my msi x58 platinum
3. and, is it faster than my i7 920 processor? some say, that it is faster than a 965 proc., is it true?

2. Yes.
3. It's basically identical to the 920. Same architecture, same core (Bloomfield), same speed, same multiplier, same number of QPI links, same socket, everything. For all practical purposes, the only difference between the two is the name. The W3520 is not faster than a 965, since it is clocked the same as a 920 and is equivalent in performance to that CPU, and is therefore inferior to the higher-end 965.
