I'm probably going to buy a "Intel® Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300" card for a desktop (don't ask...), so I need antennas for it. I cannot for the life of me find any datasheet, or any specification, on Intel's website or otherwise, on what the three antenna pins should be connected to.
Here's what I think I know:
* The 5300 can use a 3x3 MIMO antenna array to maximize throughput
* 802.11 b/g/n needs a 2.4 ghz antenna for b/g, and n is best with a 5 ghz antenna
* The pins are labeled left to right 1 - 3 - 2
I'm pretty sure that both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz antennas ship in laptops with adapters such as these. The three antenna wires on the Intel wireless cards might be color-coded.
So... does anyone have a reference to a datasheet or anything defining what kind of antennas should be connected to these three pins on the 5300?
