Intel will limit processor overclock?

I read somewhere that Intel will limit its next gens maximum overclock? I guess intel doesn't like us buying low end processors and oc'ing the hell out of them to make them faster than the more expensive processors. Is this true? I think it's extremely dumb and is bad news for people like us.
 
[H] readers/tweakers/OCers probably account for realistically less than 1% of intel's total yearly CPU sales and probably less than 2% of Intel's desktop CPUs. the vast vast vast majority of PC users dont even know what a CPU is or it's role in the computer and buy boxed PCs from HP/Dell/etc. i'd argue that even the majority of us that build our own PCs aren't comfortable or knowledgeable enough to overclock our CPUs. and then of all of these people, how many own AMDs?

Intel doesnt care...at all. they'd rather sell 2-5% of their cheaper CPUs to enthusiasts who'll OC the hell out of them than have them buy AMD and OC the hell out of that...
 
what Intel cares about is OEM selling systems pre-overclocked and selling them at the price of higher end chips, fooling the customer.

I think where people are getting this is that there is suppose to be a upper power limit on the chip of 130 watts. Not the same thing and I am not even sure if its true. it didn't keep them from OC the chip regardless

i7 will not be locked against overclocking. End of story. The only throttling is when Turbo Mode is enabled in the BIOS, but once that's disabled, there are no limitations whatsoever.

That's what I said. And regarding the [H] type community only accounting for 1-2% of the market I would not underestimate just how much we are all folking over. By all I mean XS, Anand, OC.com, etc. all the OC enthusiasts.
