Whats the Difference Between Intel Speeds and AMD speeds cause intel does like 3.0ghz and amd does like 2.0 ghz help me.

For a "nup" like youself the rating number is not too bad. ie. 2.0GHz~3200+ P4. For gaming the rating would be on the conservative side.

We need an AMD pwns Intel sticky to explain it all.

Overall I will agree AMD is better then Intel, but Intel as some advantages. There should be a sticky in General Hardware :D

heh, i've seen soo many analogies now, it's silly.

one of the best ones goes something like this:

you have a semi that can go 60mph
and a pickup truck that can go 150mph

even though the pickup is way faster, the semi can carry more stuff at once to make up for the slower speed. in some cases, the pickup is better (small loads) and in some, the semi is better (huge loads)

amd = semi
intel = pickup

:D

In simple terms, the AMD does more per clock cycle than Intel does.

Intel: 3.0 GHz x 6 instructions/clock = 18
AMD: 2.0 GHz x 9 instructions/clock = 18

That's how a 2.0 GHz AMD can equal or exceed the actual computing power of a 3.0 GHz Intel. Basically, more work is done for each Hz in the AMD than the Intel.

For the non-n00bs: yes, I know I over-simplified it. :p
