So this problem has recently arise on my computer when i noticed that my scroll wheel and back buttons on my mouse didn't work. I went into device manager and noticed that both of usb controller ,3.0 and 3.1, were had the yellow exclamation mark and throwing a code 52 error meaning the driver is not digitally signed and the os wont load them. I tried the easiest solution first and uninstalled both controllers and rescanned for changes and same issue. I then went to asus's website and downloaded the latest drivers and again issue is still there. I then goto intels site, download the driver scan tool and install a new usb 3.0 driver. And still nothing.

I reset my BIOS back to defaults and nada, still getting the error 52. So i reboot again and F8 into that menu and select the "disable driver signature enforcement" option and bam it works, my keyboard and mouse are reinstalling and everything works perfectly fine. But the catch is that if i restart and go back into windows i get the error 52 again and have to start all over. I haven't changed anything hardware wise in month, and this problem just came about last week. I thought was from some windows updates my pc got so i uninstalled all of those but still nothing. I have no idea why they would just die all of a sudden, my pc has no malware or anything on it. I actually just built this system a few months ago. Anyone else have any ideas? The only other thing i can think of is that its my motherboard giving out, but its weird because it works fine in BIOS and after disabling driver signature enforcement.

Ive tried the registry edits and still the same results, but i will look for that update and see if i have it installed when i get home from work.

Also, don't be afraid to scour Google for help. All I did to find those links was search for "code 52 error" and read through the linked forum threads.

I didn't go beyond the first page of results, so you may find more help there.

Actually thats what i had done, after looking at the 2nd link i realize that was one i already tried and i didnt even have that update installed. I also tried the trick with group policy but no luck. If i could just somehow turn off driver enforcement permanently or have it boot to the recovery options menu everytime id be ok. Or if all else fails just reinstall the OS

You can try this post by Gizmo0001:

Permanently disable driver signature enforcement on Win 7 x64

for those of you who want to bypass the security dialog which occurs when installing non-MS-WHQL-signed drivers on Windows 7 64Bit (and Windows 8, 8.1) there was only a single solution for me that worked for scripted, automated, unattended or silent installations: import the certificates prior to install

Follow these steps:

1. install the software once manually by confirming that the unsigned drivers shall be used

2. go to %windir%\inf and search for the latest OEM??.INF file; open it (notepad) and verify by its contents that this is the driver you wish to install automatically next time

3. go to %windir%\system32\catroot\{any ID}\OEM??.CAT (<- same number as in step 2); right click on this file, select properties, go to "Digital Signatures" tab, mark the certificate, click on details

4. on the next window click "Show Certificate"

5. on the next window open the "Details" tab and click "Save to File..."

6. collect this/all certificates

7. deploy these certificates

7.1 either in a batch /cmd script using "certutil.exe -f -addstore "TrustedPublisher" "MYFILE.cer" prior to setup

7.2 or by Group Policies (computer \ Policies \ Windows \ Security \ Public Key Policies \ add your files here )

8. run your setup just the way you wanted :D

Note:

I was not able to bypass windows driver signature checks on Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise x64 using
- Bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON
- Bcdedit.exe /set testsigning ON
- Bcdedit.exe /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
- Group Policy / Users / Settings / Administrative Templates / System / Drivers / Signature = ignore
- Application Compatibility (ApplicationCompatibilityToolkitSetup.exe Download Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit 5.6 from Official Microsoft Download Center ) set NoSignatureCheck, Export DB, sdbinst -q \\path\dbfile.sdb)

It sounds to me like this permanently turns it off.
