According to various reports, Intel is close to closing its chip plant in Jerusalem and selling off its flash-memory plant in southern Israel.

If the flash-memory activities are sold in full, the price tag will be around $1.5 billion, on the basis of operating performance only and excluding debt, Globes said. TheMarker.com, the financial news website of the Haaretz newspaper, cited Intel sources as saying the flash memory activities would be sold to Franco-Italian chip maker STMicroelectronics

Hardly. If you'd bothered to read the article, you'd note that they're currently building a $4bn chip plant (45nm) in Kiryat Gat and that they've got another 4 facilities in northern Israel, including the development team for the Pentium-M and Core2 lines. They're just pulling out of flash memory operations.
 
He was just throwing political (not to mention - racial) garbage and animosity into the subject, nothing more.
 
I thought at first this might be talking about the Israeli CPU design team. Thank goodness that it’s not! Can you imagine? “Gee, guys, thanks for developing the Pentium-M, and saving Intel from the Netburst debacle, and paving the way for Core…oh, by the way, these pink slips are for you.”
In any case, I’m happy that according to the latest update, Intel is committed to keeping the plant open and productive.
 
The main problem with the plants in Israel, specifically those located in Qiryat Gat, is that they are located on land which is and has been disputed for decades. Hell Ralph Bunche won a nobel prize for his reports on this specific region.
