Hey guys,

I have a retail Intel Pentium 4 2.8C Processor with the stock heatsink/fan. I was wondering if anyone had a chart showing the noise level (dba) of this heatsink/fan and if it is worth it to upgrade to the Zalman copper heatsink according to noise and heat issues.

i beleive the stock intel heatsink is in teh 30;s DB wise and the Zalman on low is about silent

Why not wait and see then if you find it to be too loud or not acceptable order the Zalman? I find that the intel stock is perfectly fine but to each his own.

I've used both in my machine. The Zalman is alot quieter, but you won't be able to use it's silent mode for CPU's over 3.0GHz. Not according to thier website anyway. I would personally get it anyway as it cools better than the stock unit and is a little quieter.

Like Sir-Fragalot I've had both in my IC7 with the 2.8c.
I used the stock Intel hsf for for the first 8 months and it was fine but I've recently added the Zalman and it's quieter at top speed than the Intel and keeps the cpu 8-13c cooler too
I don't have a chart but I'm glad I got the Zalman 7000a al-cu.
