We are all excited about the massive performance boost that DX12 is going to provide for our desktop GPU's and IGP's, but I am also excited about the massive performance boost DX12 will grant to mobile GPU's and, especially, IGP 's. Should also improve battery life, as well.
 
Added in a Microsoft talk on DX12. You need to watch the Intel Asteroids demo and explanation. It is amazing how much more powerful Intel higher end processors will be under DX12. Skip to the 33 minute mark for it.
 
What I like is that it improves upon AMD's position as well. The 4790k and 5820k are excellent but I can't justify spending money just for gaming. Especially since I do not game like I used too.

Upgrading will probably happen late 2016 anyways. Running is more important to me.
 
It's amazing how much GPU and CPU overhead is reduced by this upcoming Low-Level-API vs the current rendition. Simply amazing.

I'm very interested to see how the upcoming AMD APU's perform with DX12 when running on only the IGP. Now if AMD would only make them SMP capable and give them the ability to Xfire the IGP's...That would make for a pretty sweet game-capable budget HTPC or backup PC! :cool: /dream

For personal use and gaming I find those extra cores are useless as well. I like my i7 Sandy but I've been on the G3258 machine ever since I built it and forgot all about the i7 :( I'll probably do one big build in 2016 and use that for 4-6 years again like I did with my Q4950.
