http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=17790 <-- some details
Anyway, it looks like a great plan. Look at how well Via is selling their Eden /Epia combo boards. Most users dont need 3Ghz of power. I built a 1Ghz Via system a while back. It works fine for standard office use. (email, internet, word processing, etc.) and its only equivalent to about a 600Mhz Pentium3. It looks like it would probably be a Pentium3 with no cache which would probably make it perform about similarly to the Via chip, unless they added the cache back on to beat it.
At 90nm its got to be super low power and coupled with a revamped 815e chipset (with newer southbridge) on like a .09 process the whole board could be super small and only use maybe 10W.
This chip is going to be perfect for emerging market countries with little money to spend. It will get them on the internet and in touch with the rest of the world.
Now if they just make some mini-itx boards with PentiumM's that would really kick ass.
