Intel server HELP

:eek: I need some help here and fast guys. My Girl friend is the manger of Domino's
and the server is on the way out. It's a very old 133 intel.Here is the kicker. Domino's wants 1000.00 dollars for a computer just like this one and it's only a 133 cpu with 128 megs of memory.There still running windows 95 and it's fine for what the computer is doing.

What I would and need to know is, I need the HD to work in another computer that I can build and not lose any data and still work.Domino's don't give them the CD key number for the 95 or the software. What can I do in this case to save the owner money and make the girl friend look good in this case.
 
Maybe in away, I just need to know how I can build a new rig for lease money and keep the computer running. I just can't see sending 1000.00 dollars on a computer like that
 
Is it just a plain whitebox P133 system, or does it have special hardware to work with what they need it to do? If it is a special POS parts, or if it could get her location in trouble with Dominos corporate when LP comes around to audit, she might do better to just get the official box if it still does what it is supposed to do...
 
Why not figure out what's wrong with the old one and just fix it?
 
Because it's most likely silicon level failure given the age. Secondly, the Dominos boxes are specially built for PoS work. You can't just 'off the shelf' one, because there's likely propreitary cards in it at the minimum. Most likely a proprietary IPC board.
Would need photos of the system to say for sure, but honestly, I think it's going to end up being cheaper to just shell out the $1K to Dominos if it's an IPC setup. Anything remotely current with an ISA backplane or ISA slots is going to set you back the big bucks, before you get into any proprietary hardware that may or may not be involved.
 
I haven't myself taken the computer apart, but her and our oldest son have. He said it's just like a old socket 370 motherboard with a network card installed. I can go down there and get MB numbers. I no the rig is very old and needs updating. I know they also are al
ble to get teck sopport over the phone for the computer
 
I'd imagine, like AreEss said, that it's probably a proprietary PoS unit..and as someone else said, there are likely compliance issues if you were to replace the machine with something nonstandard..shelling out $1k to have the machine replaced, meeting compliance requirements for Dominos' franchising and having the business work as it's supposed to is probably a better idea than initiating potential problems with Dominos HQ and the proprietary PoS support..

Absolutely not. Pentium 133 would be a Socket3 NOT Socket5 (P54/P55), NOT Socket7. There is the possibility that it is a Socket5, but unlikely.

Pentium 133 was socket 5 or 7. Socket 3 was 486 and AMD/Cyrix 5x86.

Bah, yeah, I mixed up sockets there. What I get for posting at fuck-me-o'clock after the week I've had. I checked a known 133MHz SBC real quick rather than my Micron P54e. :p We will now commence beating me with old bins of Foxconn-made Socket5's to drive that in.
Socket5 has P54 and P55 subtypes, which are reference to VRM capabilities. A P55 board can eat Pentium MMXes, a P54 cannot. At least I think I have those in the right order. I have some old i430VX's around here somewhere... :D

With this old stuff I not sure guys but if he built a cheap server with todays parts using Xppro can't he transfer the files from the old server to the new one.
