According to DigiTimes, Intel recently sent the general manager of Intel's Worldwide Reseller Channel Organization to Taiwan to meet with local channel partners to outline the company's outlook for the desktop CPU market.

The company estimates that worldwide desktop CPU shipments increased 9% sequentially in the third quarter this year, while the channel segment contributed 23-24% of shipments. With quad-core CPUs becoming more popular among consumers, average selling prices (ASPs) increased by around US$11. To date, Intel has already shipped over two million quad-core CPUs since the launch in November 2006.
