Can't really complain when you look at the overall price though.Yeah, I bought the 129 deal and it was $23 tax and shipping. $15 to ship a CPU is ridiculous.

Hehe. I bought it, didn't I??
Yeah, it's a good deal. A forum member posted that he heard from someone "substantial" that we're all getting D0's. If it's true, we all gotta thumbs up the bro. If not, you know what to do.![]()
Damn. What deal did you purchase, how much was shipping?
My shiz has not been verified yet. :c(
I bought the bundle with the mobo (build for a relative). $15 tax + $32 shipping. Shipping was the same for either bundle strangely enough.
We've settled on the Rockstar bonus for the Big Deal!
The first 2,000 Rockstar orders get a $25 gift certificate to the Penny Arcade store (www.pennyarcademerch.com).
Perfect for books, posters, or even a sweet T-shirt and they have some good ones! It would be the perfect thing to wear to the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in September. Hint hint. Maybe you can win a trip and partake in the cool gaming fest in Seattle. Enter for a chance to win in the Drawings section of the program website.
I'm so excited I think I might pee my pants.
I heard the order numbers started at 17,000 so if your order number is between 17,000 and 19,000 you should get the bonusIt's too bad that they aren't letting you know if you are one of the ones getting the bonus. Methinks they will just bundle it with your shipment?

What I'm thinking is Intel is waiting for the 26th to ship the items out since thats when the Windows 7 upgrade vouchers start coming out for new pcs.

They killed it. No point in doing it anymore since there is no way Fry's is going to be more generous with freebies and things like the motherboard/processor bundle than Intel.Log into retailedge today. Fry's is doing this academy thing for retailedge. I can access three basic quizzes , three desktop quizzes , and three mobility quizzes and that is it. I can no longer access the prizes, my points, my producer status, forums, etc.
Effectively they made retailedge into a Eunuch site.
I am wondering if this is why I was verified and able to purchase the big deal on the 17th, yet on the 19th they said I am no longer verified (after they charged my credit card for the big deal.)They killed it. Why in the HECK would they neuter Retail Edge for Fry's employees like that??? It's not like Fry's is anti-intel. Look at all the PC's and processors they cell for Intel. At Best Buy the vast majority of our budget systems are often cheapo AMD quad cores of the 1.8GHz variety. I hope they don't nerf our retail edge or I'll be pissed. I just ordered the AMD training package not too long ago. $35 for a $100 triple core and a T-shirt. Got everything in one week. Wish Intel's bundle was a little faster in that arena, but I like that Intel does higher end product.
I can think of two reasons
1) They force computer employees to take the mac training which offers no rewards besides those lapel pins. Can't have intel be doing a similar thing with real prizes and deals.
2) Those prizes and deals cut against fry's bottom line. They are expecting you to purchase there own smackover bundle they had on sale for 449 a few weeks back. And that is not counting the OS. Sure Fry's will only make 10 dollars or so of profit on that sale, but it is money in the bank.
Both reasons sound like something fry's corporate will try.
Well, they can certainly jack people around more right now, as most will be less likely to leave an established job, especially over a retail purchase program. And I'm sure they know that.
Edit: But knowing what Fry's has changed, there's no way in HELL I'd buy any kind of smackover or cpu package from them if someone else had a sale price close to it. I'd buy the CPU at Microcenter for $229 and I wouldn't even buy that motherboard. EVGA has got a new $220 board that is rocking it, and supports triple channel DDR3, unlike the SO board from Intel. I'd buy from somewhere else just to make sure Fry's didn't get my money after this.
the SO board does triple channel...
