Are you sure there isn't anything else you're leaving out ccity? In the other thread you mentioned multiple accounts. Did you end up ordering something from all those accounts you mentioned with the same credit card/shipping information?

Anyone who abuses this system deserves to have their order denied, Not sure why this is a shock to anyone.

Apparently Intel decided to ruin my holiday..My cousin got an email saying that after a "random review of their records" that his account was terminated and he was banned from IRE due to to this:

"Impersonating other users or members or sending false verification information is considered fradulent activity and will result in the termination of Member's Account, and may result in a Member being permanently banned from the Program."
If your order has not been shipped yet, the funds will be refunded shortly..

What we can't figure out is that he/me did nothing wrong..He works for BestBuy, and this email from them was sent to his work email, the same one he used to sign up for the account..They verified everything electronically from since he has a @GeekSquad.com email domain."...

I did everything for him, he never logged into the account after he was created and verified, and I did all the required lessons needed to get to "Producer" status..I promptly ordered a 3930K (early AM EST on the 6th)..

The only think I can think of is that Intel didn't like that the name on the credit card didn't match the name on the account, but I am sure there are at LEAST a few hundred people out there that work in retail and don't have a CC of their own..I asked a couple veterans in the other thread that got closed if anyone had used someone else's CC and two people told me they had done it before without a problem..:(:(

I mean unless Intel really under estimated the demand for the 3930K and had a panic attack when they saw that nobody wanted the 4770K they decided to cancel some orders...I am sure if that was the case I wouldn't be the only one reporting back saying it happened though no?:confused:

Lastly, they haven't refunded the money to my CC so I am "Hoping" it is already processed and will still squeak through but if it does it will be a Christmas Miracle...It was going to be a gift for myself, I told my family not to get me anything despite their persistent bugging of what to get me since I spent some money on myself and now this happens..

Dude, you used someone else's account, with your credit card.

You made the account brand new to do this (Mistake 1. Should have made it months in advance. ) and shipped to your own address from what I can gather from what you're saying (Mistake 2. Always have something match the actual account... )

They don't care that you had him activate it using the email, because they don't keep a record of how it is verified for security reasons... A paystub is super easy to forge if you've seen a best buy one for even 30 seconds...

You got caught trying to beat the system using someone elses credentials, I feel a little bad for you, but honestly, not surprised it happened.

Sorry I totally forgot to check this thread for updates, but I am glad I did come back..

I only ordered one one for me through his account..How was I beating the system exactly? What is the difference of me giving him the $218.XX it cost with shipping and tax since he wasn't going to use it anyway? Should I have paid $450 for one on eBay from a random BestBuy/WalMart/XXX employee?

You do not verify the account with a BestBuy paystub any longer..You verify it through a @bestbuy/@geeksquad.com email address for EVERYTHING..I don't know if that is a new policy to cut down on abuse (since most of these orders probably come from BB employees given the chain's size) but that is how everyone @ his store does it he was told..

Are you sure there isn't anything else you're leaving out ccity? In the other thread you mentioned multiple accounts. Did you end up ordering something from all those accounts you mentioned with the same credit card/shipping information?

I guess I should have clarified what I meant in the other thread..My cousin's partner @ work wanted to know if I knew anyone that wanted one (he knew nothing about it but agreed to set up an account if I knew someone that could benefit it from it with a little for his time), and I do mean "a little"...

That one was going to another member here, with NOTHING for me..It was just a way for me to help someone else get one without paying the near retail price that many try to charge for them on eBay or event the FS forums..

I did not order from the other account, I had NOTHING TO DO with it other then helping a member here secure a 4930K for his use at a very nice price. It appears that one is coming..

Agreed. Especially to the extent that he was using it for.

So it was wrong of me to try to help a fellow [H]ard member get one without paying the 100~150% markup that everyone was offering to sell them for eh? Excuse me for trying to be a nice guy since the member in question needed it and couldn't pay $400~$500 for one..

EDIT: If you are referring to what I did say directly in the other thread, then forgive me..I scrapped the plans of doing what I was going to do because I saw everyone advertising offers of buying one and reselling them at an insane mark up for people that cannot get one and decided to get one for a member without him paying that kinda money..

As for my order, I have a feeling it is still coming since my cousin got an email from Intel confirming the order (after he got the first email I posted about)..He did shoot an email to Intel telling explaining that I was simply building a system since he has never done it and just chose to have it shipped to me..I will update if I get it or not..

As far as I know it's still going. I ordered the 4770k last night. The 6 core has been sold out for a while.

You can absolutely verify through paystubs, that way employees without email access are eligible. In my store, only SRs and higher, as well as all GS agents have email access.

I ordered mine on December 6th and still haven't gotten any shipment confirmation. Not too worried since I was expecting it to take six weeks, but I have heard loads of people getting their chips already.

Same. Either the demand was incredibly high compared to the 3930k's they ran the past two purchases, or intel had less chips and is shoring up the numbers they need to fill orders.

Either way I'm a little annoyed. Wanted a christmas gift to myself. :( Only thing I bothered buying too.

There are already in the For Sale forums for sale. As that is what most of them bought them for in here. Excluding a hand full that actually bought them to use in their own person pc build. But you aren't suppose to ask that in here. Go make a "WTB" thread before this gets derailed.

If any of you guys want to sell your cpu chips, please PM me.

Ordered on the sixth and still waiting. Looks like Intel didn't expect as many orders. And there is a reason it was sold out because last year I saw them in stock for a while.

I don't believe its wrong for individuals who are part of the retail edge program have their friends/families use their own CC information and buy the items as gifts, etc.

I have yet to receive a 'shipped' email, however a confirmation email was received on the 5th.

"Please allow up to 6 weeks for your order to ship"

It is wrong and it is in the tos that you and everyone else agreed to. If that was the way it worked, everyone would be in the program. It isn't right for people to use your information to better their self in promotions. If you would like to buy one, like you agreed and give it to them as a gift. I see no issue with that as you are using your money and information. But using a account to do a group buy is stupid, and using a CC that isn't tied to that account is just asking for a account to be locked.

Alright, down Killer! :D To each their own...

Here is one scenario. What if the individual assigned the account did the required video watching and tasks, but could not afford to put the device of their choosing on their card so they had a family member use theirs? I see nothing wrong with that or similar situations.

I will have to re-read the TOS, but it was my understanding that falsifying or impersonating the user was against the rules, not just using different billing or shipping info.

I'm not trying to be rude or mean about this. But you have people in here that has abused the program with multiple accounts and multiple credit card orders. Then you have some that bought it for the sole purpose to resale for a huge profit.

Bottom line is what you do is your business. But most in here think that they are doing nothing wrong by abusing the system. This hurts everyone in the end not just the people abusing it. As you aren't even allowed to resale the cpus to begin with. It is even stated in the tos. But again everyone will do what they want in the end.

Let people do what they want. If they dont need the chip I dont see its wrong to sell it. Heck I am sure most of them are passing on the savings to the members here. Yes its against the TOS but I am sure everyone working retail deserves a few more bucks anyways.

I see no problem with a little extra money for the efforts. But they are all listed for $450, $479, etc in here. That is a bit more than a few bucks. But just tired of rinse and repeat post.
