Hey guys, I was looking for a couple of recomendations for an appropriate non-water solution for cooling an Intel quad core cpu.

Yeah, GG on actually reading it :rolleyes:. The Socket775 coolers mentioned are the ones most popular today and in use on dual and quad core systems.

Even the OP's "zomg I didn't bother to read the second post, but I want to get this one that is mentioned in the second post of the guide."

Does it mension Quad-core? Are there actually temperatures mensioned? When I read that, do I know what to expect?

No, I can google for reviews over them to see that they are tested with Core2Duo's which tells me nothing! Some did some testing and the results were against ambient temperatures. Well, I was 5°C off on that test with my Zalman, and the the quad get's hot.

Sure, I guess all coolers are mensioned. They all cool. The most of them are big, and they all are popular. But this tells me nothing.

PS: Yes, I'm having a bad day :(

That tells us more. Good link.

But what I find strange in that test is why he didn't use the test in Prime with small FFT's. This get's the cpu even hotter. And also, why did he had to mod them. Now I still don't know for sure if something is wrong with my zalman setup.

Just a question about that Tunic Tower. It's big. I just saw a good picture from it withing a case and that thing is big. So I'm wondering. Can the mobo hold all this massive cooling? Because all weight is on the mobo? And because I like to go to LAN's I'm scared at a point I will see the Tunic laying at the bottom of my case. Or the heatpipes come off the chips
 
As much as I like the Tuniq Tower...I wanted something flashy and appealing (yenno, for those non-computer savvy friends that come by and drool infront of the window of your rig) and right now I'm using ACF 64 Pro. If I buy the Tuniq Tower and get like an LED or UV reactive fan...can it be seen through the fins at all? Or should I go with a Zalman 95/97? Either way will be fine as I'm running 1.4v@ 3ghz.

I wouldn't get the Zalman 9500/9700. Why not go with a Scythe Infinity, then you can attach 2 LED fans to it?

scratch out the xp120 for the si128 and add the ultra 120 ;)

Hmm, I really would love for a review on all those latest high end coolers on a quad-core. But then, not like that other review where all are modded with 2145 and a half fans, or little less :)
And to make me really happy, monitored with core-temp or TAT and running Prime 95 with small FFT's. And if they then could shake the mobo when installed to see if it will hold transporting to LAN's, and not breaking a nice cpu hole in the motherboard. It will be perfect review. For me at least.

It's a hint [H].... :)

The Tuniq is big but uses a back plate (as opposed to push pins) and feels quite solid when mounted.

(Note, I've read that reference Nvidia 680i mobos like the evga have capacitors sticking through the back of the board that interfere with the backplate. I understand this has been fixed on new versions of the board, but can't verify that from personal experience.)
 
anyone with infinity wanna trade for ultra120? any of the HSF above will work well.
 
Im using the Noctura NH-U12F with 3 scythe S-fans the 1600rpm ones

Im getting 68 C full load on my QX6700 running 3.0Ghz at 1.298V
Idleing I'm getting 40C at 1.8Ghz at 1.136V

Idle my fans are running around 1000rpm
Load they are running 1500-1600rpm

This is with full thermal management via my gigabyte DQ6 and a hardcano 13
 
:D Thx Avias.... Again :D Maybe one day I will be able to return a helping hand ;)

So a mail to Tuniq will help for knowing it will fit.
But then, what Thermal Paste should I use?

I've posted earlier this link to a shootout of paste. But I can't find the winner "Masscool Shin-Etsu x23" here were I live. (Belgium but the netherlands will also do)

The next best thing would be the "AS Ceramique", but I mailed this company to ask which one would benefit me best with the quad-core. And they told me AS-5? Almost the last one in the test? So what is your opinion about this?
