My husband and I are trying to install a new processor in our dell demension 2400. (from a 2.2 to a 3.2). We put the new one in and the computer won't boot up. The fan runs though. Any thoughts on what we're doing wrong? Thanks. =)

Did you make sure the board would support the 3.2ghz processor before installing it? You may need to stick the 2.2 back in and perform a BIOS update. Good luck... :D

Ok, we went to the website and dl'ed the bios update. But when we tried to run it, it asked for a floppy drive. We don't have one. Any new ideas?

the chipset is intel i845g. ( im not understanding any of this, just telling you what my hubby says lol)

I dont think i845 chipset supports 800mhz fsb and HT processors :(

Well, thanks for your help everyone. Oh, and if anyone needs a basically brand new 3.2 processor, it's being listed on e-bay. Thanks again. =)
