Intel Processor Comparision Query

I was wondering if there is something significantly different in their architectures for Intel to have mentioned these 2 separately for each of them.

I suspect when the 6700 came out there weren't any quad core cpus available yet, so someone decided calling it "multi-core" was a good choice. The 6750 was introduced after quad cores were available so they realized calling it "multi-core" was too general and thus described it as "dual core".
