Intel Prescotts might have 64bit?

Anyone read about the Intel Prescott might just very well have 64bit processing abilities?

Prescott's do natively. However the socket 478 Prescott's never had it enabled and all LGA775 Prescott's that do not have the "F" affixed to their name (IE: 3.4F/3.6F ) do not have it enabled. It is disabled during manufacturing and can not be enabled through software or any other means.

The core was designed with integrated EM64T. This practice of adding a feature and disabling it was done with Hyperthreading back when the Northwoods came out. It wasn't until the 3.06GHz 533MHz FSB Northwood that the HT feature was enabled. Same thing with Prescott, they made the design change and then began building it, but they left the feature disabled until it was finalized and all the bugs were worked out.

Yeah, but apparently, there's a bios update that can enable this feature now.

i can't wait to play with 64-bit again. i had an athlon 64 several months ago.
