Intel Pentium Gold Pins Lid Engineering Sample

That's not an engineering sample. SX879 is B1 stepping, the first out of 5 or 6 steppings.

Qualification or engineering samples from Intel at that time were clearly marked as such and had an sSpec starting with the letter Q.

Fake? Doctored? Here's another from CPU World with the same sSpec and the text looks different.

Maybe it's real? Who knows. Ebay is awash with doctored CPUs of all vintages and types. I'd lean towards the Ebay "engineering sample" being fake, the text doesn't look right at all.
