Intel Pentium 4 506 Processor OC ability

I have been hearing that this chip could overclock to 4 GHZ but im asking the professionals now. I am building a new computer / server and was wondering if this chip would be solid of this kind of job.

I want this computer to be "Up-to-date" with the current speeds but dont really want to pay $500 just for the processor. I was wondering which processor would cost the least but also is very competitive with the faster cpu speeds out there when over clocked(or stock).

as far as that board in your link, its not bad but its not super either, the BIOS are severely lacking compared to a company like ABIT or ASUS(trash, my opinion), MSI, DFI, etc..

it does have a throttle disable which is handy for short term high overclock benchmarks

How would the Pentium 4 506 compare to the Pentium 820 Dual?

Im wondering if i should spend 130 for both the processor and mobo or 220 for the 820 dual?

Would it run alot smoother if i get the dual? Or is it a waste of money?

only if you are heavy heavy into multi-tasking. HT on a non-dual core proc is going to make them seem just about the same if you lightly multi-task. 820s begin to get abnormally hot very fast under an OC over 3200MHz.

the 505/506 dwill do 4ghz easy ons otock cooling just bump fsb to 200
