Intel Pc Build Help Needed

My friend wants me to build him an intel rig which costs less than £1000. He wants to play counterstrike source/bf2 games like that. This is what i got so far.. Any additions or subtractions i should make??

Proc - Intel Pentium 4 930 Dual Core Presler 3.0ghz
MoBo - gigabyte G1-Turbo G1975X (any good?)
Memory - geil 2gb PC5300 DDR2 (2x1gb) (Any good never used ddr2??.. help needed)
Graphics - BFG 7800 gt oc
HDD - Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 10 160gb 8mb cache sata2
Heatsink - Thermalright SI-120
Fan for heatsink - Akasa AK-183-L2B Ultra Quiet 120mm fan 18 dB(A) 44.8cfm
Fan For Case - 2 x Akasa AK-183-L2B Ultra Quiet 120mm fan 18 dB(A) 44.8cfm
Case - his choice be about £70
PSU - Seasonic S12 500 watt silent ATX 2.0 (is this any good??)

Comes to just over £1000 anything to decrease price without affecting performance?? Feel free to write suggestions for changing some of the parts.. So ill wait for your responses

Yea, that's a 975X board, and I really hope your joking about the Conroe support. If you've seen the benchmarks, and if what I've heard is true, a Conroe will be able to run atleast 40% faster than that pressler you chose, so it might give you more options to upgrade later on without buying a whole new computer
 
975 chipset can support Conroe, if the motherboard has the changes needed for Conroe support. (minor stuff) The Intel branded 975 motherboard will support Conroe from rev 303 on. The Gigabyte & Asus haven't commented on Conroe support yet. But who knows they might support Conroe already, or they might need a few minor changes to support it.

Everything looks fine for the config, but it seems like I've been seeing 7900GT's for the same price as 7800GT's so why not get a 7900GT for the same price.
 
The RAM is nothing outstanding - but I've heard very good things about the PSU, and it seems to have done nicely in reviews if I remember. The RAM... Some would recommend maybe getting only 1GB and making it 667 depending on the prices. With a 775 build, DDR2 is your only real choice, so with that said - 5300 is the low end. Personally I might get myself 1GB of 667 (Or more if I could) - but I hear games like Battlefield 2 even benefit from systems with 2GB of RAM - if that was the kind of game he might play often.
 
With that being a 975x board you might want to go with an ATI card instead of nVidia. This board supports crossfire but not SLI. This will leave him the option in the future for upgrading to two video cards instead of just one. You should be able to pick up an x1800XT for around the same price as the 6800GT.

The ram you've chosen is DDR2 667 ram. I've never used Geil, I prefer Corsair myself. Unless you're going to be overclocking, which is doubtful since it is being built for someone else, you should be okay with that ram. Myself, I would go with some DDR2 800 or better ram just to future proof upgrades, but it might not fit into your budget.

Unless your friend is wanting the computer right away, I would suggest (like an earlier post) waiting to see what the status is on Gigabyte and Asus 975x boards supporting Conroe. This will give your friend another upgrade option in the future.
 
He really doesnt want to wait.. but i could put it off for about a month. He does want me to OC his gfx and cpu thats why i put in the SI-120 so wat ram should i get for oc'ing?
 
Any ram will work, as there are tons of ram ratios to keep your ram close to its specs in case it doesn't OC well.

I just got some PQI DDR2 667 4-4-4-12 stuff, and it works fine. It can crank out 7000mb/s when I'm up to 4Ghz and the ram is only running at like DDR2 700Mhz
