Hi, the time has come for a full build/upgrade of my home system... of everything.

I use VMware and Virtual PC quite a bit, actually several times every day. Sometimes I have up to three virtual operating systems running including my host os... everything is VERY slow with my older gear... 1 GB Rambus and P4 1.4. I dual boot into XP and Linux, and run virtual machines under each, although I spend about 85% of the time with Windows as the host OS.

Just curious if anyone had any insights or opinions as to which road I should go down? Intel or AMD; I am ready to heat up my Visa card :p ps; I do play games as a casual enthusiast...

i am somewhat biased since i have never owned an Intel cpu, but i am gawking at the amd 64 since its performance is amazing in games and so much faster with video editing than a pentium 3.06 ghz machine. just my 2 cents
