Some of the sticky threads here and on other sites are outdated by at least a year. From what I have been reading, AMD cpu's are better for systems which you buy a GPU. Intel is better if you use a board with IGP.

Is this still the case to date? Also, if I go Intel, is the Core 2 Duo still better for the P/G965 chipsets, what about the P35? I've been loyal to AMD since K2's.

I was going to go with the gigabyte mATX board with onboard IGP because people say you can run 1080p off it...but I also hear it's not the ideal board for someone who wants to watch a show and record one in the background.

It's the other way around, how did you come to that conclusion?

If you're going ATX then it doesn't really matter but you'll build a better system (performance-wise) going with Intel; if you need to go with an MATX system and use an IGP then go AMD since they have the best IGPs out there.
