Intel motherboard Help please

hey guys, I'm having trouble with my computer, i have a intel dz77gal - 70k motherboard comes with two ethernet ports, i have a Ethernet coming from my router and i put the other (short) ethernet in the other slot to go in to the ps3 from pc, to act like a splitter, so i can get two things with wired connection rather than running two long wires from my router. i mean is that possible? if so please tell me how? I'm running windows 8 64 bit, thanks in advance
