How do I determine the version of this Intel MEI firmware on my board? Is there a way in the BIOS to do it? Windows 8 is saying the driver is 8.1.0.1263, does that mean my firmware is already version 8.1?

ME vers is on bios main page (ASUS mobo)
Usually you can load higher number drivers - but only up to a point
1908 bios installs 8.1.2.1318 FW, latest IMEI driver pak avail is 9.0.2.1345, but the install routine cab file will only install 9.0.0.1287, and only with 1908 bios. I assume 9.0.2.XXXX driver is for Haswell, or next bios Z77 update (if any)

Yeah see I asked that question too because I see nobody has been able to get any 9.x firmware updates working on our boards (Z77 etc).

So if you keep installing drivers what will they do. I know Windows update for me at least updates the ME driver to 9.0.0.1287 but the rest stay at 8.x (unless of course I use the 9.x drivers).

Is 8.1.2.1318 FW for Asus p8z77 v- pro too? I installed MEI_1.5M_Win8_8.1.2.1318, but it didn't flash any firmware. The Bios says 8.1.0.1248. I'm using Bios 1908.

8.1.2.1318 is the driver version. To obtain the latest firmware, check out this link which contains FW 8.1.30.135.

If you download the file linked just above, there is instructions on how to flash to firmware 8.1.30.1350. The procedure is fool-proof, it won't flash if you don't have the correct hardware, so it should be safe. I flashed by all my Z77 boards' firmware to this latest version. Naked eye-wise, I can't tell the difference, but supposedly it enhances drive performance a little or something.

There's no instruction on how to do it. I when in the "intel_firmware_me_8.1.30.1350(www.station-drivers.com)\FWUpdate\Local-Win64" folder and click on flash. Error says Error 8193: Intel (R) ME Interface : Cannot locate ME device driver. How do you do it? another guide say do it in the BIOS.

Check that you have the driver installed correctly. Go to MEInfo\Windows64\ and open up info.bat.

You may need to install a newer Intel ME driver.

Instruction: Execute Command Prompt as Administrator and go to the directory that contains the FwUpdate and run: flash.bat to do it.
