1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Primarily gaming, but will use the PC to multitask and photoshop too.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
500 dollars is the budget and that's including tax and everything.
3) Where do you live?
California
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Ram, HDD, motherboard, dvd-rw, case, power supply, aftermarket cpu cooler, video card. Going to get the i5 760 at micro center for 170 (not included in the budget)
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
No parts will be reused except for the OS.
6) Will you be overclocking?
No
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
22 inch already
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
within this week or next
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
sata 6 and usb 3.0
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
Yes, 64 bit windows 7.

So basically im building this computer for my friend's brother.

Please include the total budget, including the costs of the processor. Additionally, please tell us which Micro Center store you're going to, as well as whether or not you live near a Fry's B&M store. The long story short is that whatever you don't buy in-store, you may have to buy at Amazon (which doesn't charge California residents any sales tax).

It would help us if you know which games your friend's brother likes to play. That will give us an estimate as to which video card, at a minimum, he would need.

Does he really need USB 3.0 and SATA III? As useful as they are, some of the cheaper boards that we may recommend may not have one or both features.
