Hi everyone,

I have a PC with the intel i7 3770 non K version and a Maximus V formula motherboard.
This processor is supoosed to run @3.4GHz.
I recently installed CPUZ and i noticed the frequency reported in CPUZ is only 1600MHz (croe speed indicator).
This is when I only run internet and or music...

Isn't my CPU supposed to run at native frequency: 3,4GHz all the time?

When i run a game, CPUZ indicate something up to 3.9GHz which seems to be the turbo boost max frequency.

My question is does the CPU automaticly adjust its frequency depending on how stressed he is? or is it supposed to run @3.4Ghz and if stressed 3.9GHz, depending on the use.

Thanks for your answers, I'm not really keen with all these things. I just buy a good PC for gaming. I just want to know if everything's okay or...

ps: please be kind with my english as I am french

Depending on the bios settings it will throttle the cpu Up or Down depending on the load. Nothing to worry about.

thanks

You mean there might an option in the BIOS that "adapt" the frequency depending on what the CPU have to do?

What option should I look at in the BIOS?
Is it possible to have a constant 3.4GHz (the normal freq) and more if the CPU is stressed?

The 1.6 ghz is its idle state. You do not want to disable that, because it saves power when you're idling.

When the load is high enough that requires the higher frequency, it will automatically increase the clock speed. Everything's automatic, nothing to worry about.

As others said it's a power saving feature.

You can turn it off in BIOS. The higher speed while gaming is the Turbo.
